Ladies Retreat 2019

We praise God for the ongoing daily, steady work of training young minds and hearts in the Christian school, creating a safe haven for children with special needs to be nurtured and included, and also seeking to be a community of full-time and volunteer staff who challenge each other!  Some of our staff members are currently in a special weekends-only program to explore new methods and alternate ways of making the learning experience relevant to all students.  They are learning how to benefit our students but it has also revealed the benefit that the school's wholistic approach has had on the staff!  One of our teachers is a single mom from Muslim background who started working as our janitor a few years ago but showed a keen mind and interest in learning.  We worked with her schedule to provide English tutoring and over the years she has learned to read and write and continues her education on a flexible schedule while working as a teacher's assistant now.  She wasn't sure she would be able to keep up with the special weekend program but had the desire to learn how to be a better educator and gained great praise from those running the program when she told them her story and they were impressed with her capabilities and her heart to learn how to better help children.  She gives all the glory to God and thanks for the missionary impact on her life.
Heading to the Ladies' Retreat with a van load of GIRLS!
We do greatly appreciate all of the hard-working staff and were glad for the chance for all the ladies to take a couple days break for our annual Christ's Church Ladies Retreat last week!  It was a great time headed up by mom Sherrie and this year also saw a great amount of participation and co-leadership by many of the other ladies as well.  From organizing, planning, teaching, singing, crafting, arranging transportation, and hosting to listening attentively - everyone participated and everyone had a great time being refreshed and challenged to grow in JOY!  We thank God for His provision and safety for the event!

Havilah always works and saves her chore money to help pay for her friend to come with her to the retreat each year.
This year we had two more of Havilah's friends join us.  Our room was FULL! :)

Friendships start early at Ladies' Retreat!
