Croup and Christmas Party

Falling asleep sitting up 😚
From a rough week of dealing with a case of croup, to an exciting ending with our annual staff Christmas Party, it's been an eventful time!  This time of year, the Harmattan winds blow dry dust down from the Sahara desert and it is our version of "flu season".  Many respiratory illnesses make the rounds and cases of pink eye are also common right now.  Cyrene had a three-day fever and croup cough which lasted about a week and although some of the rest of the family have milder coughs and runny noses, we seem to be on the recovery.
When baby has croup and wants to be held all the time, you put her in a backpack carrier and keep working.

Matthew and Benaiah love to come over after school and hang out with Gilead and Nile.
Morning school fun
We are sooooo thrilled to finally share that Matthew and his mother have been able to move back into town and what a delight it is to daily see his smile and happiness as he is reunited with his buddies (especially Gilead) and gets to play with them and enjoy the structure of a safe school environment while trying to learn English again.  We are excited to see what he will be able to accomplish and the joy of knowing that his is a life transformed!
Feeling all better in time for the party!

Helping Grandma host Christmas party
We acknowledged the tremendous hard work, care, and dedication of the diligent staff of the daycare and school with a rewarding Christmas party.  Huge thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Hostetter for hosting it in their home!  How humbling it is for us to look back over the year and realize that God has grown our staff (in numbers as well as experience, skill, and love) and protected, provided for, and blessed the work of our hands.

Christmas songs, games, and snacks

As Proverbs 31 type of women (and some men 😀), they truly deserve to be "praised in the gates" by the works of their hands.  They have served the children while serving the church and their own families and persevered as overwhelming conquerors through challenges of health, poverty, and discouragement.  We owe all to God and thank Him for His blessing!
