A Do-It-Yourself Move

You know how moving to a different house can flip your world upside down for a while? Yep!  It's been pretty crazy around here, but we are sooooooo thankful and excited!  We finally got all moved into our new home right next to the school!  Believe it or not, the landlords still haven't finished the plumbing (our water tank still leaks), the electrical work (some parts of the house still need sockets and wiring), or the painting (they did finish inside but the entire outside hasn't been touched) but we had to go ahead and make the move anyway because the summer school break was fast approaching the end!  So far, we are extremely happy with the QUIETER street; more room for the kids and guests; wonderful cool breezes we get here; and being able to pop right over to the school/assembly building to help serve more!  We are beyond grateful and appreciative to all who helped make this move possible!

It was a DIY move, with everyone helping, from the littlest to the biggest 
And using only the van and our muscles, in creative ways :)

 Our family worked together so well as a team and we are so thankful for our strong and willing children. Scarcely moved in and then it was time for VBS!  Again, our kids were great helpers as they  helped be in charge of the craft time.

It has been encouraging seeing several of the children from VBS now coming to Sunday School.


Then it was time to prepare for the start of the new school year. 
                                             
        Everyone pitched in and helped with some renovations and DIY improvements.

We are thankful to have a few computers (some donated! Thanks!) in the library room for kids to start learning basics

Adorable Dora

Dora is the baby sister of three siblings in our Christian school. She has spent 5 months of her 6 months of life in the hospital after being born with a hole in her heart.   Two weeks ago, the team of American doctors came and assessed Dora but unfortunately, she had not recovered enough for them to attempt the surgery. Travels...and a New Home

If you have been able to follow us on Facebook then you can see that we've have a very busy but very blessed spring/summer of travels.  We couldn't even keep up with posting pictures of everyone and everywhere we have visited, it has been so busy! We are very thankful for the wonderful, genuine hospitality and generosity shown to us and we are refreshed, motivated, and encouraged to return to Ghana (although a bit tired out physically from the toll on our bodies of traveling).  We are also excited to return and move into a NEW HOME!  Looking on an online site for rentals in Kumasi recently we found a four bedroom apartment for rent. It was right in the neighborhood we needed to be in and it was an incredible, almost unbelievably good price (even cheaper than our two bedroom used to be!).  So our dear parents in Ghana checked it out for us, sent us pictures, and a few weeks later we are now the new renters of this new home for our growing family to move into upon...

Zach Tanner: The Intern

This past summer, we were blessed with the opportunity of having Zach Tanner come and spend it with us. He was a good friend of mine back when I was a student at MACU, and he was a great help to our ministry. He said he would do whatever was necessary for the ministry to move forward so I put him to the test. :) He led music and devotions a couple of times in church assemblies, taught in school regularly, did a lot of maintenance work, was the guest speaker for our college aged "youth" meetings, helped expand the gym, helped train and pray with individuals in the gym, led a VBS in the village, helped fix up the school kitchen, worked with young kids in the school to help them be regularly attending church meetings, etc. First thing we did was to go shopping in Central Market (the largest open-air market in West Africa) for  second-hand clothing to look professional for school and to get a feel for the city.
