Spring Showers

Image
On May 7th we began our third (and final) term for this academic year.  The rainy season has also begun in earnest and we are thankful that we were given a very timely gift from generous brethren to make some of the classrooms more water-proof to keep the students and classroom materials dry during the heavy tropical rainstorms.   We were glad to see all the students back in class and to also welcome a few more short-term volunteers to our team.  They contribute to our students' learning experience with their help of French tutoring, sports (PE), and teaching assistance.  We also hope that their time with us gives them the unique opportunity of experiencing a truly Christian and caring environment in an African country. On a personal level, we have had another spin on the emotional carrousel with Matthew's mom bringing him to live with us after he was hospitalized again and then taking him away again after two happy weeks with us. ...

Family Camp 2019

Image
This year's Annual Ghana Family Camp was a blessed time of Friends, Family, and Fellowship!  We are so thankful that the camp weekend fell right in the middle of our school break so we had extra time available to host family and friends both before and after the camp dates.  Our children are so blessed to have cousins and close friends in Godly families with whom they get to build lasting friendships.  We are spurred-on and motivated to more love and good deeds by our Godly friends and this preaching camp was a great time to be reminded of our common goal - to work together in unity to accomplish God's purpose on this earth, saving souls! Building friendships in Christ, young and old!  Helping each other get the right "focus" to take a picture during preaching                       Pre-teens Zion, Zoe, Wendy, and Scott did the children's Bible class for camp! Wake up, big brother!  Time ...

Special Days

When there is a long break between updates, it is because things have been especially eventful!   Lots to be thankful for and to be praising God for. We'll update in two posts. We are so thankful our little Cyrene Rose turned 1 on April 3rd!!! “Rose” is an appropriate name for her as she is truly pretty, sweet, and soft but also has her prickly parts. She’s as precious as could be and loves to cuddle; but boy, does she keep us on our toes! Just the day before her birthday she had her first ER visit after she knocked herself almost unconscious.  She was fine after just a few minutes but it scared us!  After two ER visits in this city in the past few months, let's just say that we are thankful we could get help but we also are very thankful that we have never had a SERIOUS life or death emergency in our family. 😬  She’s strong willed, loves attention, and always makes sure she lets you know her wants or needs in case you forgot. She is perfect! Just who we n...

Babies and Birthdays

Image
And sometimes life goes too fast to keep up....! So many birthdays in the last few weeks!  We celebrated the life of this wonderful, amazing, hard-working man on his birthday in March (this is Jessica typing right now, btw 😁).  He is such a great leader as he leads by his example of working hard at anything that needs to be done.  He sees the need and gets it done with diligence and humility. Gilead loved helping make Daddy's cake.    Such a great Dad to our six kids.                                       Big sis and big brother helping Cassey blow out her candle Then it was a special day that is now birthday to FOUR gals in the congregation here.  March 23rd was little Cassey's first birthday, the birthday of one of our teachers (Mrs. Abanga), another of the ladies (Dinah), and joining the crew is baby Jael also born on the same day.  ...

Camping & Critters

This year’s Bolga Men's Meeting started special! We (the boys and I )  geared up to leave around 5 am with a number of men from the church. We got to ride in the new mission van. We took off around 6 am and didn’t have any car trouble!!! It drove smoothly and the air conditioning worked perfectly which was great cause temps were over 100 degrees.  We were running a bit late so Grandpa helped us make up for lost time. 😅 There weren’t as many people this year (it’s not an easy camp) but the fellowship was sweet as usual! There was great preaching and encouragement.  The theme was “Now”- Man is like a mere breath; His days are like a passing shadow.(Psalms 144:4) It was great for us all to put things in proper perspectives stripped away from the comforts of our home and familiar surroundings. We are truly on this earth a short time preparing for our eternity. I praise God for the opportunity to share with the brethren and also to be encouraged by the other message...
